The Boat Race: Street Food and Music Festival

The Boat Race is a major London event between the UK’s two greatest universities – Oxford and Cambridge. Contested over 4.25 miles of tidal Thames between Putney and Chiswick Bridges and spanning 185 years of bitter rivalry, the Race has become synonymous with British tradition and excellence. Cambridge lead both the men’s and the women’s head-to-head records, by 84 races to 80 and 44 to 30 respectively.

The Women’s Boat Race 3:44pm
The Men’s Boat Race 4:44pm

We are delighted to be hosting a Street Food & Music Festival on Boat Race day for visitors to kick back, enjoy the food, take in the music and enjoy the sunshine (hopefully!). Visit our live music stage compered by Riverside Radio and pick up some street food in Church Square.

2020 marks The 75th Women’s Boat Race and The 166th Men’s Boat Race.

For the first time in the history of the event, in 2020 there will be 2 females umpiring The women’s Boat Race and The Men’s Boat Race. Judith Packer will umpire The Women’s Boat Race and Sarah Winckless MBE will umpire The Men’s Boat Race.
