As many will be aware of, from Friday 24th July it will be mandatory to wear a face mask in shops and supermarkets across England. Masks are already mandatory on public transport.
Masks have been proven to significantly reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19.

They include:
- Children under 11
- People with disabilities
- Those with breathing difficulties
People who fail to comply with the new rules face a fine of up to £100 but this will be reduced to £50 if people pay within 14 days.
At Positively Putney we’ve collated all the Putney stores where you purchase a mask in preparation for Friday.
Or why not get creative & make your own! There’s lots of helpful guides online for how to make your own protective version, & why not pay a visit to The Sewing Rooms on Lacy Road for your fabric & materials?
Whichever mask you end up purchasing, ensure it completely covers your nose and mouth, is breathable for you & if reusable make sure you wash it after every use.
Stay safe, be kind & importantly also remember to keep social distancing! And we leave you with a joke for those who can’t get enough of puns!
People keep asking me to make them face masks…They know me SEW well
