The Ultra Low Emission Zone will become operational in Putney from Monday 25th October. Signage has been spotted in various locations on the South Circular!
It feels like so much has changed since the presentation back in October 2019 hosted by the Putney Society to understand the implications of the ULEZ extending out to Putney. Local residents and businesses squeezed into the downstairs room at Putney Community church to hear presentations from representatives from TFL, Wandsworth Council and Kings College London.
The Central London ULEZ was introduced in April 2019. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year, within the same area as the Congestion Charge zone. It will be extended to the South Circular as the boundary from 25th October 2021. If your vehicle does not meet the emissions standards you will have to pay £12.50 per day. You can check your vehicle on the TFL website here.
Poor air quality is having a detrimental effect on peoples quality of life. The compelling research by Dr Ian Mudway puts it into perspective. It will hopefully have an impact on Putney’s air quality.
