“What can you do with the love you feel? Where is there you can take it?”.
It’s Labor Day and the women of Independence, Kanas are preparing for the annual picnic. Sisters Madge and Millie bicker, their mother Flo pesters, neighbour Helen bustles and teacher Rosemary meddles.
These seemingly content group of women are disrupted by the arrival of the young and charming drifter Hal. Hearts are broken and lives are changed in the following 24 hours, as Hal’s lively, dangerous, masculine energy wakes up the sleepy community. This Pulitzer Prize winning play explores themes of sexuality, repression, rites of passage and disappointment.
Presented by special arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd at Putney Arts Theatre, head over to their website for availability and to purchase tickets.
