Ladies’ Day at Putney Art Theatre

It’s 2005! Tony Christie is “boss” again thanks to Peter Kay and Comic Relief. Ascot has relocated to York for the year. Pearl, Jan, Shelly and Linda are stood side by side trimming and packing fish in a fish plant in the Hull docks, day in and day out with only their conversation to stop them from going insane. They know what each other had for tea last night. They know what they each watched on telly. How well do they really know each other?

Pearl’s leaving and she wants to go to the races for a leaving do. It seems impossibly expensive at first but fate offers them an opportunity. Hats, heals and fascinators at the ready they make it into the enclosure in the hope of meeting and mingling with the posh, the famous and the wealthy. However, it’s their own lives and each other they become more acquainted with. As the champagne flows, will their luck on the horses hold out?
