Fantastic Performances
On Friday the 24th of November, we hosted Putney’s annual Christmas light switch on.
Local schools and performance groups took part including Hotham School, The Roche School, Hurlingham School, Falcons School and Lucie Benson School of Dance. They were fantastic to watch and brought festive cheer into Putney.
Putney Author Switches on Lights
We were lucky to have Joseph Coelho, who grew up in Putney, return to switch on our Christmas Lights for 2023. The Author, Poet & Playwright is the current Waterstones Children’s Laureate and attended Brandlehow Primary and Elliott School (Now Ark Academy Putney). Joseph was joined on stage by Fiona Lumbers, the illustrator of his ‘Luna Loves’ series. Fiona took to the stage to illustrate Luna live whilst Joseph Coelho answered questions from the keen children of Putney.
Stalls Galore
Many Putney businesses took up stalls for locals to enjoy. Kashmir served delicious hot Indian food whilst The Duke’s Head served drinks including their very popular mulled wine. Vintersol Distillery came to show off their amazing Putney Gin, if you haven’t heard of them before, check them out here.
Putney Rotary were in attendance, selling cakes and promoting their organisation. Tideway London came to show off their engineering triumphs, inspiring children and informing adults of their works around London.
Lights up
At 6pm the lights in Putney were switched on and it was brilliant seeing so many families and friends taking photographs with the tree! We would like to thank Riverside radio for compering the evenings events too. Most of all, a big thank you to everyone in the Putney community who came to the Church Square to enjoy the evenings festivities.
