Local Photography Exhibition

To celebrate Wandsworth being the London Borough of Culture, an exhibition of fine art by eighteen local photographers, from the Putney group for London Independent Photography is being displayed in Putney Library until Sunday 4th May.

On Wednesday 16th April, the photographers held a private view evening of the collection. Sophie Carr, professional landscape photographer alongside Nicola Grant from Positively Putney and Judith Chegwidden from Putney Society judged the images. After much debate as to whether infact a Putney image should win it was decided that the winning images were Nigel Attenborough’s pair of Battersea Power Station taken fifty years apart. A big thank you to HomeSW15 for gifting a voucher for Sunday dinner for two for the prize.

The photography group is a community organisation for amateur and professional photographers who meet monthly. Anyone interested in joining the group contact the chair Andrew Wilson, aw@unity-publishing.co.uk. Also the author of the book Wild About Putney and the beautiful calendar delivered by Warrens Estate Agent each year.

Highly commended awards went to Andrew Wilson with his wonderful images of Putney riverside and Sue Oakford’s calming images of Wandsworth Common.

Nicola particularly liked this photo of Rodney Turtle’s of the pulpit and football table which she instantly recognised as the Church she got married in, Holy Trinity Church, Roehampton.

Still awaiting the final approvals for exact locations but the photography boards will be displayed within Putney town centre over the summer.
