Best coffee shops in Putney

Whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or simply looking for a nice place to catch up with friends, choosing a coffee shop can be a difficult decision. Fortunately, we are here to help you out with some recommendations based on what is important to you. Refer back here anytime you are having trouble settling on a place to grab a coffee.

Best for high quality coffee

Coffee lovers, we salute your dedication to seeking out the best quality coffee. While many of us will take what we are given, this is not the case for you.

Located opposite East Putney Tube, Arise Coffee Roasters are committed to sourcing the best coffee beans, selecting Arabic grade one beans. They roast them by hand using traditional artisan methods to ensure they can bring you coffee that is nothing short of excellent. For more specialty coffee, you could try Sendero outside Putney Station or Artisan on Upper Richmond Road.

Best for coffee on the go

Sometimes, there is no time to sit down and enjoy your coffee. If you are travelling to work, why not grab a coffee from The Drop right before getting on the tube? It could massively improve a stressful morning. Max’s Café & Deli, which will sort you for a quick breakfast or lunch, is also located outside East Putney Station.

Best for sweet treats

If you have a sweet tooth, you might choose your coffee shop based on what delicious treats they have to offer. We recommend Gail’s Bakery for its mouth-watering cinnamon buns. If you’re in need of more than a pastry, it has a wide selection of sandwiches and other lunch foods too. Paul and The Bakehouse are also renowned for their delicious breads, cakes and pastries.

Best for meeting friends

The cosy outdoor space at Monies Coffee Bar makes it the perfect place to meet friends in the warmer months. If you’re in the mood to catch up over something stronger than coffee, it also serves wine and cocktails. The Dynamo, which is a restaurant as well as a café, is also an excellent spot for a leisurely group lunch or coffee.

Most unique

If you’re into art, music and culture, Cappuccino Arts Café is the place for you. It showcases local talent by hosting music performances, art exhibitions and drama productions.

Blåbär is a Nordic café that doubles as a creative showroom where almost every item is on sale. It sells the homeware, furniture, gifts and accessories of an emerging generation of Nordic brands and designers.

Best value

With a subscription entitling you to up to five coffees a day and 20% off food for just £30 a month, Pret A Manger has the best value coffee in Putney. Even if you haven’t subscribed to this deal, you can still get a filter coffee for just £1.60, with a 50p discount if you bring your own reusable cup. Costa, Café Nero and Starbucks are other great options if you’re seeking coffee on a budget.

If you’re looking for good value food as well as coffee, Giuliano Deli-Café is a family run business that serves quality Italian dishes at great prices.
