As National Recycling Week draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our Putney businesses in the past year. With sustainability high on the agenda, it’s inspiring to see how much of a difference we can make when we work together.
Thanks to our partnership with First Mile, our preferred trade waste provider, over 100 Putney businesses have been recycling smarter, reducing waste, and cutting carbon. And the results over the last 12 months speak for themselves:
Putney’s Recycling Wins (Sept 2024 – Sept 2025)
- 202.55 tonnes of recycling generated
- 69.17 tonnes of food recycling collected
- 298.57 tonnes of general waste managed responsibly
- 47.6% average annual recycling rate achieved
- 313.32 tonnes of CO2 saved
- The equivalent of 1,501 trees saved
- 164,077 KWH energy produced
These numbers highlight not just the commitment of local businesses but also the collective impact we can have on our environment. From diverting food waste to powering energy generation, every step contributes to making Putney greener and more sustainable.
