Christmas has officially arrived in Putney! Christmas spirit lit up Putney on 28 November as Positively Putney BID hosted its much-loved Christmas Lights Switch-On, marking the official start of the festive season. The evening brought together residents, families, and visitors for one of the most heart-warming community events of the year.

A Night of Music, Community and Christmas Magic
Riverside Radio broadcasted live from St Mary’s Church Square, where beautiful school choirs and drama groups filled the air with festive cheer. With the square glowing under our stunning Christmas tree, the atmosphere was truly magical.
Local businesses helped make the event unforgettable. Vintersol Distillery served its famous Apple Glögg, the ever-popular Putney Rotary Club delighted visitors with games and baked treats, and newcomer Creatures Comfort offered festive goodies just for pet lovers.
At 6pm, Father Christmas himself (brilliantly played by our very own Graham Morrows of Morrows, Putney) took to the stage to switch on the Christmas lights, much to the delight of children and adults alike. The evening ended with a spectacular finale performance from the Lucie Benson School of Dance, a crowd favourite every year.
Festive Fun Continues With the Winter Wonderland Ice Sculpture Trail
The celebrations didn’t stop there. The following day, Putney welcomed back its hugely popular Winter Wonderland Ice Sculpture Trail, featuring 18 incredible hand-carved sculptures placed across the town centre for shoppers to discover. All brought to you by Putney Exchange, Kids Stuff, The Massage Company, McDonald’s, Friends of Putney Library, Putney School of Art and Design, Abie’s Nails, Get Set Go, Chestertons, Russell-Cooke, Anytime Fitness, Phoenix Yoga and Harvey’s Bakehouse.

Street performers brought festive music and energy to East Putney, Metro Bank, and Church Square, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere throughout the high street. Families flocked to meet Santa in our Christmas Grotto, and children enjoyed bouncing inside the giant Snow Globe Bouncy Castle, one of the weekend’s biggest hits.
Residents of all ages enjoyed a packed programme of fun sponsored by our businesses, all made possible thanks to the incredible support of our businesses.

Celebrating Community, Local Businesses and the Spirit of Putney
As a Business Improvement District, our mission at Positively Putney is to promote local businesses, increase footfall, and create a vibrant town centre that our residents can be proud of. This festive weekend was a shining example of what happens when a community comes together to celebrate and support its local businesses..
A huge thank you to everyone who came to explore, shop, eat, party, and relax. Putney thrives because of its warm, welcoming community and we couldn’t be prouder.
