We recently visited newly opened Studio Pilates located on Upper Richmond Road. Studio owner Rachel Franklin answered some of our questions about her Pilates studio and why she chose Putney as a location for her business.
What is Studio Pilates?
Established in Australia in 2002, Studio Pilates is a global network of 100 reformer pilates studios located across Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK and China.
Studio Pilates offer 40-minute body sculpting group reformer pilates classes within a luxurious studio environment, combining instructor-led workouts with state-of-the-art technology to deliver a workout experience that will leave clients feeling motivated and energised.
Can you tell us a bit about your background before opening the studio?
Originally from Kent, Rachel spent her career prior to Studio Pilates at the accountancy firm PwC, where her time was split between teams based in London and Dubai.
Rachel found herself drawn to Pilates after struggling with lower back pain. Her experience with Pilates in Dubai ignited her passion for the practice, leading her to explore opportunities in the field upon her return to London.
Studio Pilates presented Rachel with the opportunity to utilise her existing skills and experience whilst also pursuing her passion for health and wellbeing.
Why did you decide to open in Putney?
From discussions with friends and colleagues based in Putney, it became clear that there was strong demand for boutique fitness offerings, in particular those offering reformer pilates.
Studio Pilates is a destination for health, wellness, and community. Putney is well aligned in this respect given the volume of local residents who seek to prioritise their health and wellbeing, in addition to the numerous community events, sports clubs and local businesses with whom we are partnering and collaborating.
If you’re interested in trying reformer pilates, Studio Pilates offers orientation classes for complete beginners to get you familiar with the equipment. Book here.
