As you know, 2022 is a very special year as Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of royal service. The past two years have been tough and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee offers people of all ages a chance to come together and celebrate this historic occasion across the United Kingdom.
To celebrate Her Majesty’s historic reign, we held a competition for all school children in Putney to display their talent by drawing a ‘Reflection of the Queen’. We suggested this could be a portrait of the queen, or something that signified the Queen to them, such as a corgi dog or Buckingham Palace. The competition was open to all year groups and we received nearly 200 pieces of art ranging from 4 to 11 year olds. A very big thank you to Granard School and Hotham school who both sent over 80 pictures. We have awarded both schools with a Waterstones voucher of £100.
The art work has been displayed in three locations in Putney town centre. 143 Putney High Street (was previously Ryness), 88 Putney High Street (was previously Santander) and the wall in Putney Exchange before you get to Waitrose. Can you find your artwork?
