When you think of London, Putney may not be the first place that comes to mind. Familiar names like Notting Hill or Piccadilly may pop into your head with their hustle and bustle of the notorious attractions and landmarks that tourists believe they must spend their time. However, that’s what makes quant Putney all the more special.

Putney is a place where you can get lost, regardless of it being a number street. It’s a place where the hustle and bustle collide with calm, creating a lovely atmosphere to spend time with your family and friends, whether that’s shopping at H&M and TK Maxx or grabbing a bite to eat at Chipotle or Pizza Express. Putney is a revolving door of beauty and change, as humanity evolves so does Putney. Through spectacular events like the Boat Races and Christmas lights to new shops and restaurants consistently being added to the high street itself.
As a teenager who has now lived in Putney for two years having moved from the United States, I believe that Putney has the best of both worlds when it comes to having both a sociable and safe environment. Living in Putney, I’m able to easily walk to the high street to run errands with my mum or grab a bite to eat with friends after school. Sometimes I spend hours on the high street shopping, walking, and eating at my favourite places. Putney really makes me believe the phrase ‘time flies when you’re having fun’.

Putney not only showcases the wonderful splendor of itself but gives people the opportunity to easily get to various areas in and outside of London, through its efficient transportation links. Whether that’s a longer bus ride where you’re able to catch glimpses of London, a quick tube ride which gets you to your destination in a matter of time, or a scenic ride on one of Putney’s uber boats, where you can feel the warm summer breeze pass you by. Overall, Putney isn’t just a place where you may go to school, work, or live, but it’s a place where you can truly experience the magnificence of London and all it has to offer.
Everyday, I can see the care and heart that goes into keeping the area pristine and lively, whether it’s the colourful murals on the vacant business walls or the events that are mindfully planned for the individuals of Putney. I had noticed Positively Putney’s logo around town but until I did my work experience I had not realised how much they were responsible for.
