The festive season brought a real buzz to Putney, as Positively Putney’s Christmas campaign helped transform the town centre into a welcoming and vibrant destination for residents, visitors and local businesses.
Kicked off with our festive light switch on event at the end of November with local schools and performance groups showing us their talents on the community stage compered by Riverside Radio. This year we had the biggest tree in over a decade kindly sponsored by Cosmetics. We also had forty new festive displays on lamp columns which shone brightly.
Festive lighting and wonderfully decorated business windows created a warm Christmas atmosphere across Putney, encouraging people to spend time in the area, enjoy the seasonal surroundings and support local shops, cafés, bars and restaurants during the busiest trading period of the year.
Our Winter Wonderland Ice Sculpture Trail provided family-friendly entertainment, helped bring the community together and created memorable experiences for those spending time in the town centre. Another big thank you to the businesses that sponsored an ice sculpture.

Supporting local businesses remained at the heart of our campaign. We promoted retailers, hospitality venues and exercise businesses in our Christmas advent calendar on all our digital channels, encouraging shoppers to choose Putney for Christmas gifts, festive dining, seasonal celebrations and keeping fit. Our advent calendar had just short of 4000 views. This targeted promotion helped raise awareness of the variety and quality of businesses available locally.
Did you spot our poster on the large billboard on Upper Richmond Road? This was provided in partnership with JC Decaux Community Channel Project. A big thank you to JC Decaux for supporting the local community.
Overall, the Positively Putney Christmas campaign helped boost footfall, support local businesses and create a positive festive atmosphere across the town centre.
We wish you a Happy New Year and look forward to welcoming you to Putney very soon.
