Who you gonna call? Halloween 24

On Thursday, 31st October, Putney hosted its highly anticipated Halloween Trick or Treat Trail, transforming Putney’s high street into a buzzing hub of eerie fun. With spooky decorations, lively entertainment, and local businesses offering treats, it was clear that “there’s something strange in the neighborhood,” but this time it wasn’t the ghosts—it was the hundreds of happy families celebrating Halloween in Putney!

A Record-Breaking Event

This year’s Halloween event saw record participation from both businesses and local families. Over 50 businesses took part in the trail, offering treats to trick-or-treaters and decorating their storefronts to create a spooky atmosphere. The high street was filled with laughter and excitement as children dressed in their Halloween costumes visited local shops for sweets and treats. It was a great opportunity for residents to visit shops they have not visited before.

The community truly came together for this event, and thanks to the generosity of participating businesses, a record number of treats were handed out, ensuring every child left with a smile. From start to finish, Putney’s high street was alive with excitement, proving once again that “Who you gonna call?” – Positively Putney BID!

Special Highlights of the Day

Several moments stood out during the Halloween Trick or Treat Trail. LIDL kindly donated pumpkins for carving and delicious treats. Putney Exchange was the perfect host for the Ghostbusters team from Bower Birdy—a crowd favourite that had everyone asking, “Who you gonna call?” Their presence brought extra excitement, with both children and adults thrilled by the nostalgia and fun.

The outside area at Putney Arts Theatre hosted the Balloon Modeller and Face Painters with a large queue for the whole five hours. The Candy Man gave out lovely nostalgic sweets and free cotton candy. Meanwhile, many businesses went above and beyond by purchasing additional treats to ensure no child left empty-handed, a true testament to the community spirit Putney is known for.

Community Spirit and Social Buzz

The Halloween Trick or Treat Trail didn’t just bring families to the high street; it also generated a lot of buzz on social media. Many businesses embraced the Halloween theme, with staff dressing up in creative costumes and storefronts decked out in spooky decor. The festive atmosphere, shared widely online, showed once again that Putney is the place to be for family-friendly fun.
