On a bright June evening, local businesses, partners, and community members gathered for Positively Putney BID’s Annual Summer Awards — a highlight in the networking calendar and a chance to reflect on another busy and successful year.
This annual meeting is a celebration of the vibrant community that makes Putney special. It is a moment for businesses to reconnect, share stories, and see first-hand how the BID continues to Enhance, Promote, and Support the area through a wide range of projects.
The meeting started with the Putney Workplace Choir singing a joyful and enthusiastic rendition of Like a Prayer, and the appropriate Lean on Me emphasizing how a BID can support its businesses, wonderfully led by Hannah Crerar. (the performance will be uploaded to You Tube soon)

This summer event provides an opportunity for Executive Director Nicola Grant to update on the impact of Positively Putney’s work over the past financial year. From undercover security to floral displays, street cleaning, placemaking to digital campaigns and events, every initiative is funded by the BID levy and shaped by the needs of local businesses. The evening offered an opportunity to see exactly how those contributions are making a difference — not just for traders, but for residents and visitors alike.
This years key note speaker was Koral Ibrahim, founder of the Ready House who delivered an excellent and inspiring presentation on the evolution of town centres and the necessary steps businesses need to take to stay current. As shown in the photo Koral tells the audience that “In future successful place brands will :
SPEAK LIKE A MAGAZINE, CHANGE LIKE A GALLERY,SHARE LIKE AN APP, BUILD LOYALTY LIKE A CLUB, EXPERIMENT LIKE A LAB, CONNECT LIKE A FRIEND,ENTERTAIN LIKE A SHOW “

The highlight of the evening Councillor Kemi Akinola presented awards to the businesses that had scored highest in the recent Mystery Shopping Customer Service Programme. Ten businesses scoring perfect scores, or the highest within their sector received glassware. Followed by businesses who scored outstanding (over 90%), and good customer service (over 75%).
The photograph shows the team from Chicken Shop who scored a perfect 100%.
Those with the highest score in each sector are:
Russell Cooke Solicitors, The Dentist, Home SW15, Sporting Feet, Thomas Exchange Global and Chicken Shop. And those unable to attend included Studio Pilates Putney, Holland and Barrett, Hamptons Estate Agents.
Once all the businesses have received their Mystery Shopping reports we will announce the full list.
Some would say June is a crazy time to have an ice sculpture but Icebox kindly provided a stunning sculpture hinting at the beauty we can expect in our Winter Wonderland trail this November. (Date for the diary Saturday 29th November.)
The Duke’s Head Putney, located on Putney’s riverside, served as a perfect venue for this summer celebration.

A big thank you to all the business representatives who came to listen, learn and celebrate. Click through the gallery to see photos of the evening.
